Lesson 22 & 23 – #23Lessons

Hello friends,

We have finally made it to the end of this series. If you’ve stuck with me this far I thank you. If you are just discovering my blog here, welcome.

It’s been a year since I jotted all 23 lessons into my journal and thought I would never do anything more with them. Yet, here I am having expanded on them and posted them for all to see. So, my friends, here are the last two lessons.

Surround yourself with people who make you laugh

Life can be hard and stressful. It can make you sad and it can hurt. So many things in life can be stressful and make you wish for something else. There isn’t always a way to avoid the stressful and the painful parts of life, but if you surround yourself with people who understand you and love you and make you laugh, you can get through anything.

Those people will lift you up when you are down. They will help you find the humor in that rough patch, that story, that difficult day. They will do what they can to bring a smile to your face.

This is the last lesson I have learned in 23 years. What a journey! I started off strong and fell off a little bit, but I really put my heart into it at the end. As most of us know, life doesn’t always go exactly as planned and that’s okay! So, this final lesson reflects that.

Mistakes are okay!

As I mentioned above, life doesn’t always go as planned. Things happen. Plans get derailed. People mess up, but that’s okay! It’s okay to make mistakes. It’s okay to mess up and have a rough time.

Mistakes are what we learn from. If it weren’t for mistakes we would not be where we are today. So many things were discovered by accident, penicillin, post-it notes, x-ray images, and so many more. All these things were supposed to be something else or used for something else, instead they changed the world because of a mistake. We make mistakes all the time and we learn from them. We either learn to change something or avoid doing something again, or we learn about ourselves, our motivations, our values, our hopes and dreams.

It’s okay to make mistakes. It’s okay to fail. Fail over and over and over again until you succeed. Make mistakes over and over and over until you get it right. How can you learn if you are only ever right? Mistakes are glorious teachers, even if they hurt at the time.

Lessons are everywhere, don’t forget to have your eyes wide open so you can see them.

  1. Congrats on finishing your 23 Series lessons. Very well done and I’m so glad you’ve stuck with it to the end. Sometimes, I’ve started these series not to only go back to them, so it’s been inspiring and encouraging that you’ve done so well to stick it through. Also, those are wonderful lessons to end on and wrap it up. I especially enjoyed the first one on surrounding yourself with people who make you laugh and lift you up. Those are the best kind of people to have in your life, and from experience make an ever so important form of support. It’s also why I choose quality connections over quantity.
