Today I am here to tell you about my favourite books. Well, they are at least my favourite books right now. These are all books that I love for some reason and they will probably continue to be my favourite books for a long time to come, of course other books will probably join them as time goes on.
The Lies of Locke Lamora by Scott Lynch
I mean, who am I kidding? Of course this is one of my favourite books (and series). If you haven’t figured it out yet, where have you been? A book about a ragtag crew of orphan children raised to be the best theives and false-facers (con people) in the land. They steal lots of things and make lots of money and end up getting in a whole heck of trouble with some gangs in the city. Did I mention that this whole city runs on gangs and gang affiliations? I just adore this book. I love it to death and it’s probably my favourite of the 3 out so far.
S./The Ship of Theseus by J.J. Abrams and Doug Dorst
I have photographed this book more than I can count. It is probably the most beautiful book I own. I absolutely adore it. Like really truly, it was an amazing reading experience. It’s a story about two academics who are interested in an author that mysteriously disappeared years ago. The story takes place between the margins of that authors book as the two people write notes to each other, leave clues and letters and mementos to each other, and falling in love with each other. I just love the multimedia aspect of this book. I also love that it was written as a love letter to literature and I am here for it!
The Adventure Zone Graphic Novels by Clint McElroy, Justin McElroy, Travis McElroy, Griffin McElroy, and Carey Pietsch
Is anyone surprised? I have honestly been obsessed with everything the McElroys have done this year. I found out about them at the end of the 2018 and just devoured so much of their content throughout the year. This series of graphic novels is hilarious and fun and cute and is an amazing adaptation of the podcast. I just love it. These will probably be more comfort reads for a long time going forward.
Into the Drowning Deep by Mira Grant
Ooh boy, this book. If you haven’t read my review of this one yet, you will not know why I love it. But, I love it. I’m not going to rehash my review, but this was everything I was looking for in a horror book about mermaids. I just… yes. Yes. And that is all.
