Hello friends,
What is this that I’m posting a wrap-up? Well, not really. I mean, yes but no. I will be honest in saying that February was a weird reading month for me. I only finished 2 books and I DNF’d 5, as the title suggests. I don’t know what happened. January was such a good reading month for me, but I suppose it was just the books I was reading.
I suppose this post is really going to be a DNF review post, in a way.
To Make Monsters Out of Girls by Amanda Lovelace
Poetry is subjective and this one just wasn’t for me. It really follows the popular poetry format of shorter poems . It was also very much about the authors previous toxic/abusive relationship. Absolutely a great topic of discussion, but it just wasn’t for me.
Vicious by V.E. Schwab
Oh, I am sure someone will be screaming about this one. I honestly did my best and got half way through it. There was just something about it that I wasn’t getting along with. I was very frustrated by the story and the characters. I know people love this book but I couldn’t do it and had to put it down.
The Mark of The Raven by Morgan L. Busse
Oh boy, I honestly only got 10 pages into this one and couldn’t do it. Within the first 10 pages there was major insta-love/obsession and the writing was just not it.
The Secret Love of Geeks
This one wasn’t bad, but I think anthologies are just not for me. I always have a really hard time with them and can’t get through them.
The Huntress of Thornbeck Forest by Melanie Dickerson
This was also one that I didn’t get very far into. The writing was just not it for me and I really didn’t like what I was seeing in the beginning.
The books I did end up reading were actually great, so at least there’s that.
How was your reading in February?
Alex
