2021 LGBTQ + Anticipated Releases || Jan – Apr

Hello friends!

I can’t believe it is almost a new year! But, the one great thing about the new year is new books! Here is a list of books that I am excited for that are releasing in the beginning of 2021.

The Mask of Mirrors by M.A. Carrick and Marie Brennan (JAN)

Alright, this is a queer high fantasy with con artists, corruption, and masquerades. How could I not be interested. I mean as soon as you say a fantasy is queer I’m in. Plus, look at this cover!

A Dark and Hollow Star by Ashley Shuttleworth (FEB)

“The “ironborn” half-fae outcast of her royal fae family.
A tempestuous Fury, exiled to earth from the Immortal Realm and hellbent on revenge.
A dutiful fae prince, determined to earn his place on the throne.
The prince’s brooding guardian, burdened with a terrible secret.”

Four queer teens are the key to discovering the truth about some terrible murders? They have to make an alliance to track down the killer? Yes please!

This Golden Flame by Emily Victoria (FEB)

Automaton armies? Rune scholars? Saving a sibling? Asexual rep? What more could I ask for?! This sounds absolutely amazing and the cover is to die for.

This just looks so interesting. I love steampunk-esque books and automatons sound like they will be a very interesting aspect of the book.

Winter’s Orbit by Everina Mawell (FEB)

Arranged marriage and murder mystery in space?! It’s queer?! Royal intrigue and preventing an interplanetary war?! I need to get my hands on this. It sounds perfect.

This just looks like everything I want in a book and I really can’t wait to get it into my hands.

The Unbroken by C.L. Clarke (MAR)

A soldier is sent to her homeland to stop a rebellion. Luca needs a turncoat to help her get her uncle of the throne. Through assassinations and massacres, in bedrooms and war rooms, Touraine and Luca will haggle over the price of a nation. But some things aren’t for sale.

This book sounds so complicated and interesting! I mean queer political High Fantasy sounds so, so good.

In The Quick by Kate Hope Day (MAR)

A young, ambitious female astronaut’s life is upended by a fiery love affair that threatens the rescue of a lost crew. This is all I need to know. A queer scifi that sounds spooky and so, so interesting. Yes please!

In Deeper Waters by F.T. Lukens (APR)

This looks so cute!

A young prince must rely on a mysterious stranger to save him when he is kidnapped during his coming-of-age tour in this swoony adventure that is The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue meets Pirates of the Caribbean.

Honestly I didn’t love Gentleman’s Guide, but if that vibe is put on a ship and we have some queer pirate love I am all for it! Plus look at that cover! Can I hang it up on my wall?!

Do any of these spark your interest? What 2021 releases are you excited for?
