2021 Reading Goals

Hello friends,

Can you believe it’s the new year? I sure can’t. But here we are and a new year means some new reading goals. So, this year I don’t really have a lot of reading goals, but I will go through the few that I do have.

One thing that I think a lot of book worms can understand is that we often get a little out of hand with the book buying and collecting. I will be honest in saying that I probably bought more books last year than I needed to, but books and reading were a definite coping mechanism in 2020.

So, as a result I have about 80 owned books, physical and ebooks, that are unread. My goal for this year is to make these 80 books a priority. I am not going to force myself to only read these books, because being a mood reader doesn’t always allow that, but I want to put a focus on these books.

This goes along with my first reading goal. While I want to read the books I own I also want to keep from buying any new books until I have made a significant dent in the books I own. This means to use the library more for new releases and other books I want to read that I don’t already own.

Using the library is also a way for me to read newer releases and then keeping my book buying down to the books I either really loved or for books that I really want to support.

This is one that has been a goal of mine for awhile now and this year I aim to continue it. I’m not good with setting strict goals, so I am simply going to do my best to increase the diverse books I read and buy this year.

What are your reading goals for the year? Are any of them similar to mine?

Happy reading,
Alex
