Hello friends, I am back with another Top Ten Tuesday! This weeks theme is books on my spring 2022 TBR. I’m not big on strict TBRs because I’m a mood reader and I love to just pick whatever my brain is feeling. But, I do always have books that I’d love to get to soon. So, here are some books that I’d love to get to in spring this year.
Title: A Master of Djinn Author: P. Djeli Clark Series/Number: Dead Djinn Universe #3 Genre: Streampunk, Fantasy, SciFi, Mystery Historical Age: Adult Page Count: 396 Publication Date: May 11, 2021 Themes: Racism, Classism, Colourism, Magic,
Synopsis:
Cairo, 1912: Though Fatma el-Sha’arawi is the youngest woman working for the Ministry of Alchemy, Enchantments and Supernatural Entities, she’s certainly not a rookie, especially after preventing the destruction of the universe last summer.
So when someone murders a secret brotherhood dedicated to one of the most famous men in history, al-Jahiz, Agent Fatma is called onto the case. Al-Jahiz transformed the world 50 years ago when he opened up the veil between the magical and mundane realms, before vanishing into the unknown. This murderer claims to be al-Jahiz, returned to condemn the modern age for its social oppressions. His dangerous magical abilities instigate unrest in the streets of Cairo that threaten to spill over onto the global stage.
Alongside her Ministry colleagues and her clever girlfriend Siti, Agent Fatma must unravel the mystery behind this imposter to restore peace to the city – or face the possibility he could be exactly who he seems….
I’m sure you are all aware of the things going on in the U.S. and Canada in terms of anti-racism, black rights, police brutality, etc. So, today I decided to create a list of books to help you educate yourself. I have not read all of these, as we all have to do better and be better. So here are some fiction books by black authors. This is by no means a conclusive list! These are just some that are high up on my list of books I need to read. I encourage you all to have a look and continue to read from these amazing authors.
This is another one of those posts that should have gone up a long time ago. It was supposed to be a Top Ten Tuesday, hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. This one is all about celebrating the books that we have enjoyed but don’t seem to talk about very much.
Today I’m here to talk about my Goodreads Want to Read shelf again. So, I had almost 300 books on my Want to Read shelf and it just wasn’t useful anymore. There was no way I was going to get to all of those books and I wasn’t even going to it to pick out books to read/buy/borrow next. So, I decided to go through my list and delete some books. This isn’t to say that I’m never going to pick any of these up, but it means that I’m not dying to read them or buy them so they needed to go. Honestly, I have a whole list of books I want to read that I don’t own, but I wanted it off of Goodreads. So, here are all the books I’ve deleted.
