“In the second Adventure Zone graphic novel (adapted from the McElroy family’s wildly popular D&D podcast), we rejoin hero-adjacent sort-of-comrades-in-arms Taako, Magnus, and Merle on a wild careen through a D&D railroad murder mystery. This installment has a little of everything: a genius child detective, an axe-wielding professional wrestler, a surly wizard, cursed magical artifacts, and a pair of meat monsters.
You know, the usual things you find on a train. “
My Thoughts
Anyone who as been keeping up with my latest obsessions and interests will not be surprised by my feelings about this book. I pre-ordered it, received it 2 days after the release and promptly finished it 2 days after receiving it. I can honestly say that this book made me laugh out loud! I mean, I knew what was going to happen, since I had listened to the podcast already. One thing I loved was how amazingly the characters were drawn and brought to life.
The next thing that I absolutely adored about this book, without spoilers, is the fact that some of the BEST verbal goofs were amazingly represented in the story. I mean, I read them and laughed because they were the best goofs and the way they were added into the story with character lines or images were perfect. All I can say is that this book is absolutely hilarious and fun and just so dang good.
Rating: 5/5… Are you even surprised?
