Bastille Book Tag – Original

Hello friends,
In honour of seeing my favourite band last week (can you guess what band it is?) I thought it would be fun to make up a little book tag with their songs. So, here it is! My original Bastille Book Tag! If you are a book blogger feel free to do this tag as well, just credit me and feel free to use the graphics!

This one is for all of you reader who are uncertain about books with lots of hype. I fall into this category a lot. New books that have been hyped to the heavens scare me. I never want to go into a book with expectations that are too high! I don’t want to read a book I thought I would love just to be disappointed. Every so often, however, there is a book or two that surprises me, despite the hype.

The Poet X by Elizabeth Acevedo and What If It’s Us by Becky Albertalli and Adam Silvera were both books that completely surprised me. They had SO much hype before and following their releases that I was a bit apprehensive. I read The Poet X for a course and it was absolutely beautiful. I reviewed it on my blog here. What If It’s Us is one of those books that I couldn’t stop myself from picking up. I mean… cute, awkward boys falling in love… How could I say no? And I was glad to actually really enjoy it! I reviewed this gem here.

This one is pretty self-explanatory! Tell me a book that made you happy while reading it. A book that brings you happiness for whatever reason!

Bloom by Kevin Panetta and Savanna Ganucheau was the cutest darn thing I have read in a long time! I read it in one sitting and it was absolutely lovely!

Tell me about a book that you read that brings you comfort. It can be any book! Picture book, poetry collection, novel, graphic novel! Anything that comforts you in one way or another.

Song of The Sparrow by Lisa Ann Sandell was one of those books I read over and over and over again. I don’t even remember how many times I read it in high school. I honestly could have read it a thousand times and still loved it. It will also be in my heart as one of the most comforting books I’ve read.

This is exactly as it sounds! Tell me a book that you read that was dark or scary!

I’m not even done this one yet but I just had to talk about it! The absolute sense of dread! Oh lord! I am only half way through this book and I think I love it. I mean…. killer “mermaids”? Yes please! This is everything I have been craving in a horror book and I cannot wait to finish it!

Tell me a book that has been stuck in your head forever. Did you love it? Did you hate it so much it makes you mad every time you think about it? Did something about stick with you? What book is always bombarding your brain?!

Okay… If you know me well you know that The Lies of Locke Lamora by Scott Lynch is one of my favourite books… and the series is one of my favourites. I just love my little ragtag crew of misfit, orphan con artists. I mean… I love all those good morally grey characters so how could I not love this bad boy?

Spill the tea! Tell what book you never want to think about or never want to hear about again!

*cough* Game of Thrones *cough* I know it’s sacrilege. But, I just never go into it, never got into the show. I just have no interest in it and wouldn’t be upset if I never heard about it again. I’m sorry. Don’t hate me!

This could be anything you read in elementary school or middle school. Was there a book you were assigned that you really loved? Was there something you read for fun that you really loved? Tell me about it!

The Fear Street Saga by R. L. Stine was one of those books that I stumbled on in the school library. I saw it and picked it out and loved it! It was probably the first horror book I ever read and definitely helped me on my dark- and creepy-loving ways.

Pick a book that you would want to read at the end of the world? What would the last book you ever read be? It could be a book you have already read or a book that you want to read. What would you read at the end of the world?

This is a really hard one. Why did I even make this prompt you ask? I have no idea. But I think right now, I would pick The Adventure Zone graphic novels. Simply because The Adventure Zone has brought me so much happiness and comfort lately, that if the world was ending I would want to feel that kind of joy one more time. (Wow, that got dark fast)

If you are a blogger, book blogger, book lover, etc. feel free to do this tag yourself! I would love to see your answers!
